Scams, Odd News, ‘Rumors’, … This and That…

Scams?
Yup… scams. It looks like there’s at least one floating around in the deaf community again. Not too long ago, someone approached me about signing up for Club Freedom. Huh? Red flags started popping up when this was explained out to me and I just kept thinking “Not again!”.
Why? It’s the same thing over and over - under different names and companies all under the same category. Quick get rich schemes. Usually this is by some fly-by-night company that suddenly makes an appearance on the scene with proposals of a ‘fool-proof’ system. First you fork over around $200 bucks, then sign up at least two or more friends and then sit back and wait for the checks to come on. In turn, those two friends each are to contact and sign up two more people…. sounds familiar?
It’s another of those pyramid groups. I don’t trust them and with good reason. They are not stable, involve investment without a viable background and in the long run, proven to be unhealthy for the people involved.
Please - haven’t we learned anything from our past experiences in them? If I remember right, one incident involving such a scheme resulted in a lot of bad feelings among my local deaf community, broken friendships and distrust. (this was after the company blew apart and dissolved, leaving a lot of people with nothing to show for their money).
Sure.. money was probably made at the start after the investment and this is what gets everyone excited (dollar signs in their eyes) but eventually a company will have someone investigate them and alarms will go off for them. What happens? They pull up stakes and dissolve the business, taking the investments from their clients and dissappear into the night.
So do yourself a favor when someone contacts you and says “Would you be interested in a business opportunity to make a lot of money?” Tell ‘em no thanks and to keep their day jobs.
Will people ever learn that such schemes NEVER work? I don’t care if the people on the “top” makes the most money, it is just crass and unethical to screw over the “rest” to achieve that.
glad you put up your website for your blog in someone else’s blog otherwise i wouldnt have known about your new blogsite!
i want to commend you for making a comment about those pyrmaid schemes, it is really disheartening to see that people actually fall for that.
I have to admit that it sounds SO tempting just because i saw an actual copy of a bank statement with a depoist of 6k from a debit card that was sent from Hong Kong.
to me, Hong Kong raised a red flag, and another red flag is that you only have to pay 200$ and you get 6k in return.. Too good to be true!
When ppl asked me if i’m interested to sign up, and the entire time, i was thinking .. why cant they see that it is one of those pyramid schemes and it would backfire somehow, someday, regardless how much you pay to sign up.
to sum it up, glad that i’m not the only deaf person not signing up when i feel like teh entire deaf community is involved in this.
thank u for the blog!

We were told that CF members MUST spend 6k on CF Vacation. If not, they will be billed.. For CF member purpose, the vacation are discounted. Be careful
To Polish Pickle:
I am deleting your comment because that kind of content will not be tolerated in this blog.
why? Profanity. accusation without foundation, etc.
That is not true that CF members must spend 6K on CF vacations. You must be get wrong info from wrong person.
Thank you for the confirmation of the scam! A friend of mine asked me to join but I wasn’t sure. I told them that I was to research a bit about the Clubfreedom before I decided. I went onto Google to search for something like this! It was like page 6 or 7 that I finally came to this. All of the links says that it was great and encourage everyone to join, but I knew it was a scam.
I used to get involved in a scam like this a couple of times. It just didn’t work! It may work for a while, but later it will just gone, and a lot of problems it will cause everyone. I guess it’s not worth it! I’m glad I came here to find that I am not alone! There are somebody who thinks it is a scam!!!
Thanks for clearing it up!
